For 10 days a year, the circus comes to town. Its a circus with a serious and aspiring heart. Its a place where not all dreams come true!
Bienvenue Cannes (84 minutes), a film by Richard Schickel and produced by Lorac Productions in association with The Rights Management Company Inc., and Redwind Productions Inc. is a celebration of the madness, the politics, the glamour, and the underbelly, of the worlds greatest Film Festival.
The 60th Cannes Film Festival will be upon us in May 2007 and we celebrate this momentous occasion with a unique feature length documentary that hosts a diverse array of talent including Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Sharon Stone, Gena Rowlands, Robin Williams, Ron Howard, Harvey Weinstein, Dino De Laurentis, Oliver Stone, Brian Grazier, Bai Ling, Willem Dafoe, Chloe Sevigny and Samuel L. Jackson, who take us on a journey through the greatest festival in the world. It is part historical tracing the high points of the festival from its beginnings and contemporary showing how it has evolved to its present-day prominence. It includes clips from many of the great films that have won prizes, and rare archival footage from the past, as well as fresh new footage of the festival as it exists today.
The film is an affectionate, yet ironic, anatomy of Cannes as it was and as it is today.
