Hot on the heels of award-winning animator Anthony Lucas big success at Annecy with The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello, Monster Distributes has picked up international distribution rights and will be launching the short feature film at MIPCOM Junior.
Funded by the AFC, Film Vic and SBS Independent, Jasper Morello won the top honour at the festival, the Grand Prix award le Cristal D'Annec,y out of the 1709 films that were entered.
The film has also won the top honours at the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival receiving The C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures Award for Best Animated Short Film, Best Animation at Flickerfest 2005, Best Animation at the Sydney Film Festival Dendy awards and Best Animation at Toronto worldwide shorts.
The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello is a 26 minute short feature made in a unique style of silhouette animation developed by director, Anthony Lucas and features the voices of Joel Edgerton (Star Wars-Ep3, King Arthur), Helmut Bakaitis (Matrix 2), Tommy Dysart and Jude Beaumont. This story is the first of a proposed trilogy of short features chronicling the remarkable voyages of Jasper Morello, Aeronaut of the Third Royal Cartographers.
Inspired by the work of authors Edgar Alan Poe and Jules Verne, and set in a world of iron dirigibles and steam powered computers, this gothic horror mystery tells the story of Jasper Morello, a disgraced aerial navigator who flees his plague-ridden home on a desperate voyage to redeem himself. The script is by two-time Augie Award winning writer, Mark Shirrefs and is produced by Susie Campbell and Julia Lucas.
Monsters growing catalogue of award-winning animation also includes 2003 Annecy success story and 2004 Oscar-winning animation Harvie Krumpet, also a half-hour short feature from Adam Elliot, which Monster has now sold in most major territories, Brown Bags Give up yer Aul Sins, nominated for an Oscar the previous year, Rory Bresnihans award-winning model animated special Ape and many other shorts. Monster will also be introducing new interactive animated series PICME and Im an Animal at MIPCOM Junior, as well as Jungle Beat, Kids Ten Commandments and Bugtime Adventures.
Monster Distributes will be at the Noga Hilton during MIPCOM Junior and will be located in The Marketplace (H4.35) during MIPCOM
